Artist's Story

I was once an engineer in the defense business.

Then the "evil empire" fell and the great bear limped off the cold war
battlefield. America's adversaries became third world malcontents, shifting
           shadows in shades of gray.

Sometime during the arms race, or maybe after the space race, we                  changed our relationship with technology.

We began to advance technology for technology's sake. Functional elegance was mangled by feature creep.

The flashing zeros of the VCR became the first universal icon that human-hostile technology had invaded.

Through most of recorded history we nurtured, cherished and honored our
machines. Now we barely understand the throw away machines of our disposable
society.

Where goes the art? Where went the heart of technology?
